I've been quilting, sewing, taking classes, and just generally busy these last 2 weeks, but I finally have something to show you. So at the middle of last week, this is what I had finished on the Zentangle quilt.
Now it's time to sing with me. (I know you know the song!) "One of these things is not like the others, one of these things doesn't belong." Do you know which one doesn't belong? If you don't see it yet, once I tell you, you'll say, "Oh, yeah." It is the third piece from the left. I didn't pay close enough attention to the orientation of the pattern piece, and so I started with the smallest block on the outer edge of the piece. That puts the largest scale blocks in the center. Great oogly moogly! (remember that old Snickers commercial?)
I could just leave it that way and adopt the Navajo custom of putting an intentional mistake into their woven rugs, because only God is perfect. I can't do that. It has always seemed a bit arrogant to me, and quite frankly, I'm too early into the process to believe that there won't be other non perfect things occurring! :-D
I could also leave it and just say it was a design choice. And really, is it sooo noticeable?! It doesn't matter. It's noticeable to me. And it would drive me crazy every time I looked at the quilt. And in the end, I would regret not making it right when I had the chance. So I just have to be thankful that I DID notice it now and not after the whole thing was put together. Or worse, after it was quilted! Sigh. I did the deconstructing and reconstructing. So here it is now that the piece was made correctly.

The next thing I have to do is to make more small scale blocks. I don't have enough for the rest of the quilt.
Remember to Spring forward tonight! :-)
