Yes, yippee skippee! I got the top of my string quilt completed this week. I am always so glad when I get a top completed, because by the time that happens, I am tired of working on it. I am no longer as excited about it as I was earlier in the process, and I am ready to start something new. I even have the early picture of the next project drawn. But I'll wait until next week to show you that. Anyway, I am pretty happy with the way this top has turned out, and I am excited to get quilting on it. It is much more vibrant in person, than this photo shows (if I knew how to Photoshop I could probably brighten it up....but I don't!), so when the quilting is done, and the professional photo is taken, I will definitely share
I want you to notice that I put piping on both edges of the bands. I think it gives a nice strong contrast along the edge and I like the dimensionality of it, which shows in the photo better along the bottom edge than on the top.
I also got the backing pieced. And yea, I used up fabric from my stash. I am trying to use up some of my older fabric because, first of all, I have way too much, and second of all, I would like to shop to replenish with new fabrics. Is that wrong?????
So now this coming week I will begin the work of beginning to piece my new idea and layering up this quilt to begin the quilting.
I also need to figure out some lighting solutions so that I don't have to keep dragging my board outside to photograph. I know it will start to snow at some point in the not too distant future and my porch might not be a viable option! :-)
